News Motocross British Motocross Championship
The Revo ACU British Motocross Championship returns to the Blaxhall Circuit on Sunday, May 28 as the Woodbridge and DMCC host the fifth round of the series. The event features a bumper line-up of the country’s best riders competing across five classes.
There are sure to be thrills and spills aplenty on the spectacular sandy circuit that sits just off the A12 in Suffolk when the action starts at 8:45 am with practice and qualifying. The race programme features an exciting line-up of eight races for the MX1, MX2, BW85 and 125cc and 250cc youth classes.
In the MX1 class, the battle at the front of the pack will most likely be between series leader Harri Kullas (CAB Screens Crescent Yamaha) and the Crendon Fastrack Honda pairing of Conrad Mewse and Josh Gilbert. Just eight points separate the top three heading into Blaxhall. Hoping to mix things up will be defending champion Tommy Searle (GTCI Revo Kawasaki), Shaun Simpson (Gabriel SS24 KTM) and Brad Todd (C-Res/Bikesport Honda). Local interest in the MX1 class will come from Tom Grimshaw (Chambers GASGAS).
In the MX2 class, Swedish rider Isak Gifting leads the way on his Stebbings Car Superstore Powered by Bikesure 426 Motorsport GASGAS but all eyes will be on burly Bury St Edmunds star Elliott Banks-Browne who rocketed to victory at Foxhill. The SC Sportshome/Geartec Husqvarna rider is a two-time British Champion and knows the fast way around Blaxhall.
Also keep an eye out for Bobby Bruce on the ASA United GASGAS, Taylor Hammal (Gabriel SS24 KTM) and Verde Shiloh KTM’s Jake Millward who is a former race winner at Blaxhall. Local riders to watch out for in the MX2 class include Bury St Edmunds Sam Nunn (Cab Screens Crescent Yamaha), James Cottrell who will be making a return to British championship action along with Callum Murfitt, Jake Rackham and Josh Peters who will be looking to use their track knowledge at Blaxhall to good advantage and record some impressive results in the two races.
Blaxhall also features the Youth 125 class where Reece Jones (SJP Moto KTM) currently leads the championship ahead of Cambridgeshire’s Wal Beaney with Jake Walker in third.
Racing alongside the Youth 125cc class will be the Youth 250cc class, which is currently led by Billy Askew on the GTCI Revo Kawasaki. Askew is currently unbeaten this season – can he keep that winning streak going? Second in the championship is Blaxhall regular Liam Bennett with Jak Taylor currently third in points. Another local rider contesting the class is Bayliss Utting who recently claimed second overall at the Lyng round in Norfolk and will be hoping to repeat his race win from last year.
The final class competing at Blaxhall is the BW85 class featuring some of the future stars of the sport from the UK. Josh Vail currently leads the championship over Charlie Richmond and Drew Stock.
The event is supported by Foxwood Trade who will be sponsoring the Holeshot Award and Steve Lumley Planing Ltd who have helped with supporting the venue development.
Blaxhall Circuit is located just off the A12 north of Woodbridge and if using Sat Nav please use the postcode IP17 1LG and then follow the signposts to the venue from that point. All the action starts at 8:45am with the qualifying sessions, followed by the first main race at 11:05am.
Admission prices are £25 for Adults, £5 for Children under 15 and Children under five are free. Family Tickets are available at £55.
