RideoffroadUK postpone Lea Bridge event
By TMX Archives on 6th Jul 12
RideoffroadUK race directors, Wayne and Sonya Braybrook, have taken what is now an easy decision to postpone the Lea Bridge event scheduled for this Sunday, July 8.
With Derbyshire taking the brunt of severe rain fall – in fact over a months worth today Friday, July 6, the Braybrook's feel that it would be irresponsible for them to run a substandard event, which would clearly be nothing short of a mud bath.
No 'racing' could possibly take place and riders would simply not enjoy riding in those conditions.
Wayne commented: "Even if the weather was fine on Sunday the ground everywhere across the whole country is still waterlogged. The Lea Bridge venue is superb, and we do not want to ruin what would be an absolutely fantastic event in better conditions.
"We've spoken with the landowner and we came to this decision. We want to return to this venue again and again so we need to think about the long term.”
The Lea Bridge event will be reschedule to run later in the year when the ground has had chance to dry out. Then riders can enjoy a good, competitive and fair race on a quality course and get real value for money.
