Motocross

FIFTEEN-year-old German ace Ken Roczen was the star of the Hawkstone International Motocross which was staged at the famous Shropshire circuit in front of a large crowd on Sunday.

After Britain's Shaun Simpson crashed-out of the first race on the factory Red Bull KTM, the Teka Suzuki teenager simply romped away to win both MX2 races by a country mile for an easy overall win. Roczen then led the final race of the day, the Superfinal, for ten exciting laps as MX1 rider Tanel Leok on the LS Honda bore down on him to eventually grab the lead with just two laps to go.

Teka Suzuki also bagged MX1 through Steve Ramon after Leok lost out on the overall as he stalled his four-stroke on the first corner of ther last lap while going for the lead and struggled to re-start. Eventually finishing the race sixth, he dropped to third overall behind Red Bull KTM's Max Nagl.

HM Plant rider Jake Nicholls was top Brit on the day with two storming rides in MX2 to fifth and third to claim third overall and a huge cheer from the crowd at the podium presentation. British Champ Brad Anderson was making a typical charge through the pack in the opening MX1 race when he ...ran over my own foot! which put him out for the day.
