Taormina, Sicily 19th/20th April 2008. The first round of the UEM Enduro Championship gets underway in Sicily on 19th 20th April and the Trials and Enduro Committee are delighted with the number of ACU licence holders that have entered the event and confident of repeating the success achieved during the 2007 season.
With reigning UEM Champions Daryl Bolter, E1 Senior and Si Wakely, E2/3Junior now concentrating on the FIM World Championship, 12 riders from GreatBritain will be undertaking the long journey to Sicily in an attempt to followin their footsteps.
Whilst no competitor is going to make a roundtrip of approx 4,000 mileswithout determination, ACU Under 23 Squad member Greg Evans will no doubt be oneof the hungriest for success after finishing as Runner-Up last season in the E1Junior Championship.
Fellow Squad members, challenging for Junior E1 glory will be Lee Edmondson(18th in 2007), Gavin Houson (31st in 2007), Oliver Moyce (5th E2/3 Junior in2007), Jamie Paget (18th E2/3 Junior in 2007) and Ashley Wood (23rd in 2007).In addition to the ACU Under 23 Enduro squad, Darren Carter (33rd in 2007) willalso be looking to increase his points tally from last season.
The Senior E1 Class may also provide success for ACU licence holders and theJones family, with Robert (9th in 2007) continuing his battle with cousin, Dylan(10th in 2007).
The Veteran's Class provides further British interest with Julian Crimp (23rdE3 Senior in 2007) and a first time UEM entry for Leo Cordingley (6th 2007 BECVeteran).
John Collins, T&E Committee Chairman said, I am delighted with both thenumber and quality of entry the Country has been able to offer the UEMChampionship, the long journey to Sicily certainly requires commitment to theSeries, hopefully several competitors will be rewarded with a visit to thepodium on the Sunday.
