Little Silver Off road Promotions staged round one of the ACU's prestigious MMX Championship at its Little Silver circuit on the 22nd February and the event which catered for the British Open, British Under 21 and the Dirt Bike Bitch British Ladies series was a massive success.

The organisers were blessed with glorious weather over the weekend and a bumper entry of top class British and Continental Motocross Riders, many of who will be contesting various Grand Prix classes throughout the year. The weather was also instrumental in attracting a good sized crowd that were treated to some excellent racing at a very well presented venue.

Qualifying for the Open class got under way at 0915 with PAR Honda's Brad Anderson posting an early fast time that was later matched exactly by Kristian Whatley riding for his new team Refurb Hanson Racing on a Kawasaki, pole went to Anderson based on his quicker second best lap.

Local lad Alex Snow managed to post a credible top 10 time in his first outing in the big bike class. The top points on the day were shared between Red Bull KTM's Stephen Sword and CCM Racings Tom Church with a second and third placing each, but Tom's better second leg gave him the honours. MVR-D Suzuki rider Carl Nunn took the race one win with Anderson backing up his qualifying time to win race two.

The Under 21 class was dominated by guest rider Jake Nicholls on his quarter litre Red Bull KTM setting fastest qualifying time and winning both races but the contest for second spot was not decided until the last lap of the second leg, that eventual honour went to Honda mounted Scott Elderfield ahead of Irelands Graeme Irwin riding for the KTM UK team. Scandinavian Richard Sandberg put up a good show achieving two fifth places to take fourth overall.

Natalie Kane on the MVR-D Suzuki once again showed the rest of the field how its done in the Dirt Bike Bitch UK sponsored Ladies Championship posting a qualifying time over 10 seconds faster than her nearest rival. CCM Racings new signing Alix Dunlop showed her worth by taking second overall at the end of the day with two solid rides. DBB's Sheena Baker was on hand to present the Trophies to the winners which included the top five in the ladies races.

The next round of the MMX series will be at the ever popular Mildenhall circuit on Sunday 5th of April where the Open and Under 21 classes will continue their battles and will this time be joined by the Quad riders for round one of their 2009 campaign.
