Motocross

AS is traditional, there was a drop in crowd attendance for the second (middle) round of the PAR Homes/ Bache's Bargains-sponsored Welsh Open Evening Motocross championship. Still, despite showers on the night, some 3,000 brave souls attended the Cwmythig Hill track to enjoy another great night of racing.

Glen Phillips took the opening holeshot, but withround one and winner, Brad Anderson, right on his tail, it was not longbefore Anderson, on his practice bike, was in first place.

Once in front, Anderson started to pull away, stretching his lead by between one and two seconds per lap as Phillipssat in front of Jamie Lewis. While the front three were well spaced, the best of the action was taking place just behind. Neville Bradshawworked his way into fourth spot, overhauled the fast starting CarlJones and Jamie Powell en route.

Anderson recorded an easy win with Phillips, Lewis and Bradshaw following him across the finish line.

Lewis holeshot moto two saw ahead of Phillips. TheWelsh duo were separated by just a couple of bike-lengths as theycleared the whoops section and headed downhill. However, Phillips spunout in a turn which cost just a few seconds, but such is the franticpace, that six rivals had passed by the time he was on the move again.

Lewis started lap two some four seconds clear with Bradshaw, Anderson and Kip Herring chasing.

Anderson started to press Bradshaw but his bike expired, leaving him sitting at the top of the hill to watching the race unfold.

It became a three-horse race as Bradshaw set aboutclosing down the gap to leader Lewis, with Herring sitting just asecond behind in third spot.
