Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racings replacement rider Matt Bisceglia made a strong debut in his first 450 class national aboard the Yoshimura Suzuki RM-Z450 in the third round of the AMA Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship on Saturday at Thunder Valley MX Park in Lakewood.

Bisceglia was brought on board to fill in while Yoshimura Suzuki regulars James Stewart and Blake Baggett recover from injuries sustained earlier in the season. And while it was his first time in the 450 class as a pro, Bisceglia looked right at home at the mile-high elevation of Thunder Valley with the power of the Yoshimura Suzuki RM-Z450 at his disposal.

After qualifying 17th, Bisceglia got better and better as the day progressed. He raced to a 10-10 on the day earning him eighth overall in the third round of the 450 Pro Motocross Championship.

In the first moto Bisceglia got off the line in 14th and worked his way past a couple of other riders to 12th, only to be repassed. In the end Bisceglia grew ever more confident on the RM-Z450 and moved up to finish 10th. The second moto was much the same as he had to fight hard to eventually earn his eighth overall.

"I couldn't be happier with my day,” Bisceglia said afterwards. "I came out and had some good practices and put it in 10th in both motos. I had to fight for both finishes. It was my first race on a 450 since my amateur days, so it was great to get eighth overall my first time out. I can't thank the team enough for giving me this opportunity. It was a great weekend and one I'll always remember.”

The 2016 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship will observe its first break of the 2016 season next weekend before returning to action on Saturday, June 18th, for the Red Bull High Point National from High Point Raceway in Mt. Morris, PA., where Baggett and Stewart are slated to be back in action.
