Following six action-packed rounds, the finale of this years BYMX series took place at Milton Park, near Northampton. Inclusive of the Autos and Adult Two-strokes a grand total of seven British Championship titles were on the line...
The first title decided came at the end of Saturday's action – and that following a gloriously entertaining and ultra competitive four-race shoot out for the ACU British Auto crown.
Ike Carter won heats one and two laying down a scintillating turn of speed – but a disappointing third race for him won tigerishly by Louie Kessell set up a thrilling finale as Kessell and super consistent Dylan Woodhall scraped it out for the title honours.
It was Kessell who took the heat four holeshot and he brilliantly held off Woodhall and the rest – eventually going on to take the title with his 3411-point score card. Woodhall took silver with a brace of seconds as his highlight, and Carter claimed bronze.
Buster Hart, Sam Davis and James Hyett rounded out the top six in speedy and impressive style.
Harry Kimber on the Twisted 7 Kawasaki easily topped out in Junior 65cc qualification, setting a time some four and a half seconds faster than the rest.
When it came to the racing action, however, normal service quickly resumed when Championship leader Alexander Brown on the Moto One KTM sped his way to the BYMX title with a true champions display – a weekend clean sweep.
On day one Kimber utilised his amazing jumping ability allied to genuine pace to run second on three occasions but a brace of 12th place results on day two dropped him to fourth overall.
Second overall on the weekend and Championship third place went to Ireland's Callum Meara with an accomplished 53,323-point finish.
Jed Etchells also stayed consistent weekend-long recording a best of second place in the final encounter – all totalled good enough for third overall together with the series silver medal.
Another couple of fine all around displays from both Oliver Costerdine and Archie Osmaston rewarded them with fifth and sixth places respectively.
