Stir of Echo's
By TMX Archives on 30th Jan 08
THE European capital of culture became the capital of British Supercross for the weekend as Liverpool played host to rounds two and three of the Future West ACU British Supercross inside the city's superb new Echo Arena on the famous Albert Dock.
A chilly wind whistled up the Mersey all weekend, but inside the arena the action was hot as the compact but well thought out circuit threw up some close racing and more than a few crashes for the fans. None of this affected top dog Mike Brown though as the CAS Honda rider dominated proceedings on both nights to claim comfortable victories in the Pro Open class both nights, his only defeat of the weekend infact coming at the hands of a fired-up Ashley Greedy in the final of Friday nights head-to-head races – a welcome addition to the program.
Elsewhere across the weekend Canadians swept the board in the Pro Lites class as Kris Foster and Colton Facciotti shared the honours on Friday and Saturday respectively, while Norwegian Per Kristan Bakke made it a sweep of the Youth 125 class on both nights with a pair of fantastic rides and Welshman Carl Jones doubled up to win both Clubman Open and Lites class on Friday night.
There were wins too for Ross Clarke and Dex Wharton in a sparsely populated Big-wheel 85cc class, James Dunn and Ben Howell split the honours in the Small-wheel 85cc class, Scooter Webster and Alfie Bowtell were victorious in the Junior finals and Alfie Mountfort and Tommy Schofield reigned supreme in the Autos.
