Successful first Marshal training day

The first ACU Motorcycle Marshals Association training day at Mallory Park on Saturday 17th January was heralded a success by every one who took part.

The friendly Leicestershire circuit saw 60 Marshals put through theirpaces on the free ACU training course, learning the essential skills ofmotorcycle sport marshalling.


The course included fire training, flag theory and practical, medicaltraining, plus incident theory and practical. By the end of the courseeveryone was up to speed and competent in the basic skills needed to bea Marshal. They can now get out there and assist at motorcycle eventsaround the country to help make motorcycle sport happen.


Ian Dixon, Marshal Training coordinator said: "I feel very excitedand proud to be offered the opportunity to develop the standards ofmarshalling in the UK with the new ACU Motorcycle Marshals Association.This is a positive step forward by the ACU, which will bring benefitsto both clubs and riders around the country.


"The level of training is comprehensive and will continue todevelop year on year. Combining all marshalling disciplines within onemarshalling body can be the only way forward. British marshallingstandards have always been accepted as high. The ACU MotorcycleMarshals Association shall see that this continues into the future.


"The first training day here at Mallory Park was well attended,with positive feed back from the marshals who took part. I look forwardto our next training day at Donington in February.”

 

Two further training days are scheduled for:-

Sunday 8th February 2009 – Donington Park, Leicestershire
Sunday 15th February 2009 – Lydden Hill, Kent
