ON Sunday, the third round of Little Silver Off-Road Promotions Winter Motocross Championships took place at Little Silver Moto Parc, near Exeter. A lot of rain had fallen earlier in the week, but with the sun out, the track was nigh on perfect and produced some thrilling racing.
There was a strong line-up in the Expert class, including Dave Yelland, who was back and competitive after a nasty crash in 2007.
In the opening race, Yelland got the best start ahead of John May and Danial Preston, but May soon hit the front when Yelland slowed with a
damaged front wheel. He eventually pulled out on the opening lap.
Preston tried to stay with May but the 250F was no match to the big 450F and May eased away to take victory in race one.
May had a blistering start to race two but stalled his bike in the first corner. Luckily he managed to bump start it in motion but Yelland hit the front on the exit ahead of Will Worden and Preston with May back in fourth spot.
Yelland held the lead two laps but soon came under pressure from May who had clawed his way up into second.
