Motocross

Set against a dramatic backdrop of thunderous rain clouds, the second round of the Scott Nationals rolled into Mepal Moto Park.

After a cracking series opener at FatCat, this championship is really growing in strength with virtually full fields in all classes contesting this grass-roots championship, racing on former Grand Prix venues and some of the best tracks in the UK!

Thankfully, apart from a couple of sharp showers the rains passed over and spectators enjoyed some very close racing, with the Mepal circuit in prime condition for the onslaught of more than 150 competitors.

As usual the 125s kicked off, with young Mike Wall grabbing his first-ever holeshot, heading a field of more than 30 screaming two-strokes.

Wall held on for a couple of laps, before Tom Davies forced his way to the front and victory in the first moto.

John Robson grabbed victory in moto two from Robbie Dowson, with Dan Wright and Lyle Lane clashing within sight of the flag and handing third to a bemused Steven Gardham.

Robbie Dowson was victorious in the third moto, with second spot going to Dan Wright.

Third place proved enough for Tom Davies to claim the overall from Robson and Wright.

The Vets raced together with the Women's class and Stacey Fisher was dominant, winning all three women's motos at a canter to take the overall from a consistent Nikita McNally.

Chelsea Gowland was third overall with Sophie Levell and Sarah Collins completing the top five.

The Vets was less clear cut and Stephen Atkins grabbed a first race win, chased over the line by Mark Houson and Alan Eaves.

Moto two went to former AMCA champion Adrian Bradley, after a close battle with Dave Dunn. Colin Thomas missed the start in moto one but came back to holeshot and grab third place.

Moto three looked to be going to Dave Dunn, who led Adrian Bradley until he pounced for the lead on the penultimate lap.

Dunn fought back though and made a late charge to snatch victory in the final corners.

Consistent Mark Houson took the overall from Bradley and Dunn, while Alan Eaves got the better of Steve Atkins for fourth overall.

The iron-man award must go to Mark Bland, who raced both the 125cc and Vet motos back-to-back, grabbing a well-deserved sixth overall.
