Tomac’s not Hangin’ about

Eli Tomac demolished the 450cc field at the opening round of the 2015 AMA Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship at Hangtown on Saturday.
The Geico Honda rider kicked off the outdoor series with a perfect 1-1 scorecard in California after dominating both qualification sessions to post a clear warning to his rivals.
Ryan Dungey (Red Bull KTM) ran 2-2 for a solid second from Jason Anderson (Rockstar Husqvarna) but everyone else in the two 30-minute plus two lap races
were mere also-rans compared to the 22-year-old from Colorado.
Dungey and Chad Reed (TwoTwo Kawasaki) went into the opening corner of race one side by side but Tomac passed them both in the second turn as Cole Seely (HRC Honda) crashed hard.
Defending champion Ken Roczen (Soaring Eagle Suzuki), racing with a stress fracture in his back, was also struggling after qualifying all the way back in 24th.
On a spectacular track that featured a half-pipe section as well as a huge 150ft triple, Tomac had stretched out a four-second lead by half-distance with Anderson holding third 41 seconds adrift.
