Tough weekend for Josh Gilbert

Route77 MVRD Honda rider Josh Gilbert suffered a painful weekend in round two of the Michelin MX Nationals series at the famous Foxhill track in Wiltshire.
After qualifying in 19th place in the combined MX1 and MX2 session, Gilbert got a good start in Saturday's first moto on his Honda CRF250, running in 15th overall and as the third-placed MX2 machine.
When another rider crossed directly in front of him, Gilbert crashed and was run over by another two bikes which broke his neck-brace and damaged his CRF machine.
Gilbert had physio on his sore neck and shoulders, opting to go out in the final race of the day on Sunday. He started outside the top 20 and after 10 minutes began to suffer from the pain of his earlier crash, riding to finish but outside the points.
Josh Gilbert, no. 326
"I'm really disappointed because we tested on Saturday and found some things that I was happy with. To go down early and finish the day before it began is not what we came here for. I want to re-group and get ready for the next Maxxis round now."
Mark Chamberlain, team manager
"Things certainly aren't going our way but I can't fault Josh. He got back on and tried his best when he was in a lot of pain. Matiss Karro will be back riding with the team next week and that will help Josh and give the team a lift. If we can get him racing soon, it will help Josh as well."
