By TMX Archives on 6th Apr 07
PRO-Circuit Kawasaki's Ben Townley moved to within three points of the East Coast Supercross Lites series lead and striking distance of the championship title with just one round remaining thanks to his third win of the campaign at Irving Stadium, Dallas, Texas, on Saturday night.
Working his way past Pro-Circuit team-mate Darcy Lange and earlyleader Ryan Dungey, after Dungey tipped over in turn whilst leading,Townley rode a smart and smooth race to claim the win and claw back to within three points of the title.
This sets up an incredibly tense championship showdown with fourthplace finisher and championship leader Ryan Morais at Detriot in twoweeks time which could see the 2004 World MX2 champ add a much coveted AMA title to his CV.
While the Lites class is set to be a real nail-biter, the Supercrossclass is all but done and dusted effectively now as James Stewart tookyet another win over Chad Reed and team-mate Tim Ferry, his tenth of theyear, to stretch his lead out to 35 points with just three rounds ofthe championship remaining.
