The motocross community is mourning the loss of one of its most respected and much-loved figures, Chris Warren, who has sadly passed away following illness.

Chris was a hugely popular race official, recognised not only across the UK but internationally. His long service to the sport included time on the FIM CMS Commission, the ACU Motocross Committee, and as a long-standing member of the ACU Southern Centre.

Between 2006 and 2023, Chris played a central role on the ACU Motocross Committee, serving as Vice Chairman until his retirement at the end of last year. He also joined the FIM in 2008 as Chief Flag Marshal and had earlier been appointed Team GB Co-ordinator for the 2007 Motocross of Nations.

His dedication to motocross took him to countless major events, from Grands Prix to the 2008 MXoN at Donington Park. He was also a driving force behind the promotion of Sidecar Grand Prix events, most recently at Foxhill with the Langrish Club. Chris’s influence stretched well beyond the UK, representing the FIM worldwide and playing a vital role in developing marshal training within the motocross discipline – something he continued to deliver with passion until his passing.

Reflecting on his friend and colleague, Steve McCauley, ACU MX Commission Chairman, said:

“I have known Chris for many years and worked with him on many training events at ACU House. He always had a very humorous side, and we enjoyed a laugh over a drink to digest the seminar and discuss tweaks and improvements for the sport. He was very supportive of me becoming the Chairman of the ACU Motorcross Committee after Brian Higgins stood down and we met over dinner whereby he really pushed me to take on the role. A role which he was more deserving of than me at the time. He simply dedicated his life to the sport of Motocross and the ACU are thankful to him for the huge impact he has had on the sport. I join with the rest of the motorcycle family around the world in offering my sincere condolences to his family for the sad loss.”

TMX joins the wider motocross community in extending our deepest condolences to Chris’s family – especially his brother, MC Roger Warren – and to all who knew him. His influence and contribution to motocross at every level will never be forgotten.
