THE weather was bright and clear, the course was just about dead right, and the Hillsborough MCC-promoted final round of the ACU Normandale Classic series, after nine closely contested rounds this year, closed-out the Championship without any problems at Stannington, South Yorkshire, on Sunday.
West Country veteran, Jon Bliss, did not make the long haul after gathering up a mind-blowing 145 points to take the Over 60 modern machine category. Mark Reason and his very crisp 249 Fantic were home and dry in Class C (Air-cooled Mono) but rode Hillsborough anyway and won while challengers Kev Peters and Peter Ruscoe missed-out. Ashley Hall had to beat Kirby Stephen 4RT rider David Braithwaite, which he did, while Richard Allen bagged the 20-points in his one and only Normandale outing.
