Motocross

FRESH from his ISDE Gold medal victory, Paul Edmondson cracked on with running the final round of the Putoline Fast Eddy XC Championship at the weekend at Ashby-de-la-Zouch.

There had been quite a break between round six and this final outing but all riders who were in with a chance of a championship place were in attendance and the quality of the field was superb.

The venue proved popular last season with the GBXC series running a round of the championship and earlier this season for the second round of the Putoline XC Championship there, but this event took on a few new stretches of land to provide a slightly different course with more than a few technical woodland sections, combined with fast, open fields and ditches.

Ashby is usually a nightmare in the wet and rain in the lead-up to the event had many riders thinking the venue would be a bog, but surprisingly it wasn't! The track was in perfect condition as the Youth race began the day, a little slippery to start with but very grippy after the opening few laps.
