Whatley out with broken femur

Apico Husqvarna rider Kristian Whatley could be out for the rest of the season after breaking his femur at round three of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship at Canada Heights on Sunday.
Whatley, the 2013 champion, hit a bank as he landed from a jump in a high-speed section of the track. He was taken to the Princess Royal Hospital in Farnborough where his femur was pinned on Monday.
Because of internal bleeding the wound was left open and he also required two blood transfusions. He faces a further operation to close the wound and may require a skin graft.
