Moffatt’s touching tribute to tragic racer Tom

North East racer Tom Brown was killed in a practice crash at the Quad Sport Leisure track in Country Durham on Sunday. He was 27.
Tom, a farmer's son who worked in the quarrying industry, was taken by air ambulance to hospital in Middlesbrough but died on the journey.
His close friend Matt Moffatt, who raced Tom's 125 at a round of the Acerbis Amateur Nationals at Whitby last year, paid tribute.
"Tom was always one for a laugh and a joke,” he said. "He never took life too seriously and he enjoyed everything that he did. He was a lovable character who made a lot of friends throughout racing – from novices to GP riders – and followed them all with great interest.
"He loved his racing. As a teenager his mum took him to some events until he could drive himself but he raced for fun and never took it too seriously.
"He would help anyone out and was always asking people to race his bikes, especially the 125. He just wanted to be there and have a good time.
"He leaves behind a lot of sad people from all around and we've seen on social media just how well he was thought of. He will be greatly missed – RIP TB, one of the top guys.”
