Wilden Winter Championship

THE final round of Wilden MXC's winter championships held at Wilden Lane turned out to be a red letter day for the Houghton family with a double class winning performance by Ryan in the Big-wheel 85cc group and Jamie in the Youth 125cc section. Just to complete the day Lewis chipped in with a credible fifth place overall in the Junior class.
Elsewhere, there were cracking performances from Nathan Rooks, Josh Spinks, Robert Yates Macaulay Eggerton and Joey Jones.
Robert Yates with a superb performance got the better of Gregg Hyett by two wins to one to claim the overall win in the Junior 65s. Finishing in third place Jordan Pyne along with fourth placed Jack Staines also deserve much credit for the way they tackled the tricky conditions which really tested the tiddler class to their limits.
In a combined 85cc class Macaulay Eggerton showed real tenacity and grit with two race wins and a second place to finish top of the pile in the Small-wheels. Liam Knight grabbing the other race win and second overall, while Josh Canton with three solid rides came home in third and a last race runner-up spot elevated John Hawkins to fourth.
The Big-wheel 85cc section was a close fought shootout between Ryan Houghton and enduro specialist Joey Jones. Ryan showed a cracking turn of speed to overpower the Suzuki rider in the first outing, and Joey performed heroics second time around to pull through the field behind Ryan. Joey got the decision in race three but at the end of the day it was Ryan's overall win.
