Brave Brits Tommy Searle, Dean Wilson and Brad Anderson tantalisingly missed the Nations podium yet again by just two slender points after a dramatic day in front of a huge patriotic crowd at St Jean dAngely...
Britain led after race one and were countering a French advance in race two until Wilson – riding with a broken wrist – slithered into the fence, and the defiant hosts were giving it their all until Christophe Pourcel had a tyre come off the rim just after he had passed Ryan Dungey to set off after Ryan Villopoto in the decider.
The Irish team stuck at it for 19th on another long day, when they again had to qualify through the B final.
