AMA Supercross Zach Osborne Indianapolis
The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Team battled a tough track at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, for the 11th round of the AMA Supercross Series.
250SX East points leader Zach Osborne dominated the competition by taking home another victory in the class and maintained his points lead. Teammates Jason Anderson and Dean Wilson finished ninth and 11th, respectively, in the 450 class.
Zach Osborne dominated all night. He was third at the start of his 250SX East heat and moved into second within a few turns. He immediately started putting the chase on aboard his Husqvarna FC 250, made an inside pass for the lead around the halfway mark, and held strong to earn another heat race victory. He was second at the start of the main and started charging immediately. He stayed focused as he kept the leader within striking distance before making a pass on the inside to overtake the lead on the ninth lap. He held strong and put on an amazing ride to claim another victory and maintain the lead in 250SX East rider point standings.
"Today was great,” said Osborne. "I was pretty good in the practice sessions and I felt really comfortable on the track. I tried to go out for the night show and put everything that happened to me during the day behind me. I just wanted to ride my own race, and that's what I ended up doing. I felt like Savatgy was going to make some mistakes and I felt like there was an opportunity that I had to take. I knew I had to be there to assert myself and make the pass happen, and I did. I got my third win of the season and have a nine-point lead so I'm just going to keep plugging away."
Jason Anderson got a top-three start in his heat and held strong to take third and earn a spot in the 450 main. He got a mid-pack start in the main and worked his way to 13th by lap eight, then up to 11th by lap 12. He cracked the top 10 soon after and worked his way to ninth with five minutes to go. He held strong to the finish, and is currently fifth overall in 450 rider point standings.
"My weekend was ok,” said Anderson. "I had a good jump in the main but just got shut down. I came from the back all the way up to ninth."
Dean Wilson was mid-pack at the start of his heat and stayed consistent to finish 12th. He got a top-five start in the semi and made a pass for third around Mike Alessi in the third lap. He made a nice pass for second with two laps to go and held strong to the finish, earning him a spot in the 450 main. He started in the back of the pack in the main and started putting in work to move through the field. He made his way to 12th by the fourth lap and stayed focused to finish 11th. He is currently 10th overall in 450 rider point standings.
"I made it out safe tonight,” said Wilson. "I feel like I should have done better but I got a little tired. I just tried to manage a pace I could do throughout the main event, but then I regrouped and started catching back up towards the end. I need to get a better start and be more aggressive up front. I have a lot more in me. I'm going to regroup and focus on next weekend."
