Defending Supercross champion Jett Lawrence made a strong ride through the pack on his Team HRC Honda to take his first win of the year at Anaheim 2 – round three of the AMA Supercross Championship.

LCQ winner Justin Cooper (Monster Energy Yamaha) took the holeshot in the Main Event and led for several laps before Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jason Anderson took over at the front having passed both Lawrence brothers to get there. But Jett regrouped and started a charge of his own that would see him take the lead and then power away to victory with Ken Roczen (Progressive Ecstar Suzuki) following him to eventually secure second after a back and forth with Anderson.

With series leader Eli Tomac (Star Racing Yamaha) struggling to make much forward progress after a slow start and eventually placing seventh, this meant that Roczen moved to the head of the championship with a three-point lead over Red Bull KTM’s Chase Sexton who placed fourth on the night despite feeling ill. Lawrence and Tomac are tied for third – five points behind Roczen.

MXGP World Champion Jorge Prado (Monster Energy Kawasaki) missed the Anaheim 2 night show after dislocating his right shoulder in practice.
