Massachusetts mudfest delivers winner #7 in 2025 AMA SX season

Red Bull KTM’s Aaron Plessinger mastered the mud at Round 12 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship to take a stunning Main Event victory after heavy rain hit Foxborough in Massachusetts making the circuit a rutted mess. Conditions were so bad that the Main Event was shortened by eight minutes and still, it was an absolute crashfest with many riders slipping off multiple times before the chequered flag came out.
Shane McElrath (Quadlock Honda Racing) took the holeshot and used his smarts to stay upright on his way to second place as Plessinger charged to the front and never looked back. Series leader Cooper Webb (Star Racing Yamaha) crashed twice but finally found his rhythm and moved from sixth to third on the last lap passing Chase Sexton (Red Bull KTM), Justin Barcia (Rockstar Energy GASGAS) and Ken Roczen (Progressive ECSTAR Suzuki) to land on the podium. In doing so he increased his series points lead to 15 – Webb now on 256 with Sexton second on 241. Roczen remains third on 220.
Plessinger’s win makes him the seventh 450 winner in the 2025 season – a win he didn’t see coming. “It’s crazy. With how the season started I was sitting in California [during the early rounds] not two months ago and I was like, ‘What am I doing here? I don’t know what’s going on,'" he admits.
“But I’ve just got to give it up to the whole team, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, they never stopped believing in me. I’m kinda getting emotional, but it was a tough start to the season, and for these guys to stick behind me and not stop believing in me, that’s a lot for me to ask for. So, hat’s off to them…
“Thank you to the fans for sticking it out in the rain. I don’t know if I’m a fan of anything that I would stick out in pouring down rain for eight-plus hours but we’ve got the best fans in the world. The best fans ever in any sport, so I give it up to the fans, they had the best performance of the night.”
