The 2026 ACU Trial GB British Trials Championship roars into action on April 25/26 in North Devon, marking the start of an expanded and evolving eight-round series set across four venues.

Following the success of the 2025 campaign, the Auto-Cycle Union (ACU) returns with a strengthened championship structure aimed at broadening participation and supporting rider development at every level. The opening round will be hosted at On Point Moto on behalf of Absolute Trials Training, introducing Keypitts Farm near Ilfracombe as a new addition to the championship calendar.

Set across 150 acres of varied terrain, Keypitts Farm is expected to deliver a demanding opening test. Competitors will tackle two laps of 12 observed sections, featuring a mix of natural hazards including wooded areas, steep hill climbs, and river sections - providing a comprehensive challenge for riders across all classes.

A key focus for 2026 is accessibility and progression, with the championship now comprising nine classes designed to cater to a wider spectrum of competitors. The revised structure places emphasis on rider ability rather than age, creating clearer pathways for youth riders to advance through the ranks.

Among the most notable updates is the introduction of the Trial3 Championship, a rebrand of the former Youth A class. It will now be open to both Youth A and B licence holders, enabling talented Youth B riders to step up earlier - subject to approval - without altering section difficulty. The class is positioned as a stepping stone toward Trial2 competition.

In parallel, the Trial3 category for Girls and Women has been introduced, offering a dedicated route for female riders. Open to Youth A and B competitors, alongside a separate adult women’s category, it is designed to support progression into Trial2 Women and TrialGB Women classes.

Meanwhile, the new Trial4 Championship replaces the former Youth B category. Open to Youth B licence holders and riders transitioning to Youth A in 2026, it maintains a clear progression framework. However, riders who competed in Youth A during 2025 will not be eligible to move down into Trial4.

The championship opener will take place over two days at Keypitts Farm (EX34 9RW), with the following schedule:

Saturday, April 25

08:30 – Signing on and Technical Control

09:00 – Observer Briefing

09:15 – Practice Area Opens

12:30 – Last TrialGB Rider Starts

18:00 – Awards Presentation (approx.)

Sunday, April 26

08:30 – Signing on and Technical Control

11:30 – Last TrialGB Rider Starts

17:00 – Awards Presentation (approx.)

With a refreshed structure, new venue, and continued commitment to accessibility and progression, the 2026 ACU Trial GB British Trials Championship is set for a strong and competitive start in North Devon.
