FIM move’s a relief for Dibs

THE FIM released an updated 2015 X-Trial calendar this week which featured an important date change that removed the date clash of the final X-Trial round in Oviedo, Spain, and the opening two rounds of the 2015 RT Keedwell sponsored British Trials Championship.
This is excellent news for reigning British Champ James Dabill, who was faced not only with missing two British Championship rounds but also a contractual dilemma as he is contracted to contest both series!
The date clash came about because after the FIM released the original X-Trial calendar the ACU then organised the BTC dates, including the opening rounds by the Hookwood and Witley clubs on March 21/22.
The FIM then announced a change of date for Oviedo, without consulting any of its member countries regarding their National Championships, to Saturday March 21.
Dougie Lampkin, Dabill's Vertigo team manager, immediately flagged this up with the FIM and the result has been discussions between the ACU and FIM and the Oviedo date has been changed to Friday, March 20.
This will mean an early morning flight for Dibs but it ought to mean he will make the start of the Hookwood club's opening round.
The 2015 X-Trial TdN, due to run on April 3, has now been allocated a venue and the event will be staged in Nice, France.
The final X-Trial calendar is:
January 3 Sheffield, England
January 31, Marseille, France
February 6, Pau, France
March 8, Barcelona, Spain
March 14, Wr. Neustadt, Austria
March 20, Oviedo, Spain
X-Trial Trial des Nations
April 3, Nice, France
