FIM roll out brand-new format at TrialGP of GB

There's great news for British trials fans as the FIM, ACU, and online streaming service Netflix have teamed up to do something very special for this year’s British round of the FIM Trial World Championship.

Scheduled to happen at the Boughton House Estate in Geddington on September 5-7,  the TrialGP of Great Britain will not only embrace the series' new format that includes Super Test Qualifying and Power Section but both races – the part of the trial formerly known as laps – will run in a Time and Observation style so all 12 sections will be done in one huge sprint against the clock with Minders speeding between sections to try and get ahead of the competitors so they can lend a hand if needed.

The Netflix connection comes in as the entire event will be filmed, serialised and shown later in a documentary style. The company has recently had such hits as Yellowjackets, Adolescence and Fly on the Wall docuseries Drive to Survive which has made Formula One watchable for the first time since six-wheelers were banned back in 1983.

The show, which will be called Kickstart: Ride to Survive (see what they did there?) will be hosted by McFly 'musician' Danny Jones who learned a whole lot about trials in his stint on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here with Emma Bristow taking care of colour commentary. The shows are scheduled to air in December which will be a nice festive treat that we can all enjoy.
