While Repsol Honda’s Toni Bou completed a dominant double to further extend his advantage in the X-Trial World Championship, the standout story for British fans at Ponti di Legno was the breakthrough performance of Beta’s Harry Hemingway.

The young Brit progressed directly to the final on both nights via the Q1 session and went on to record two highly impressive fourth-place finishes. Those results not only cement Hemingway’s position as fourth overall in the championship but also effectively secure his place in the starting line-up for the remaining five rounds of the series – a major milestone in his debut X-Trial campaign.

Bou was largely untouchable across the weekend, but behind him his Repsol Honda team-mate Gabriel Marcelli was forced to work harder for his results. After qualifying for the night-one final through Q2, Marcelli still managed to leave Italy with two second-place finishes. However, the Spaniard now trails Bou by 23 points in the standings.

Jaime Busto’s weekend proved more mixed. The GASGAS rider edged Hemingway in a tiebreak run-off to secure the final podium position on night one, but his challenge unravelled on night two. Failing to reach the final, Busto was outpaced in Q2 by local favourite Matteo Grattarola, who then went on to defeat Hemingway in a tiebreak after the pair finished level on points in the final.

As a result, Busto drops to third in the championship standings, sitting 10 points behind Marcelli but still holding a 27-point buffer over Hemingway as the series heads into its second half.
