Up and coming 18-year-old Scottish trials star Jamie Galloway has bagged one of the most prestigious prizes in motorcycle sport – the Pinhard Trophy which is awarded annually to the best Under-21-year-old sporting motorcyclist competing under ACU or SACU jurisdiction.

“After the initial shock of receiving the phone call the excitement and sheer honour of receiving such a prestigious award kicked in,” enthuses Jamie who impressed the panel of Pinhard judges above all others. “I am totally blown away, especially when you take a look down the list of previous winners.  There are just so many huge names from the world of motorcycling so to say I am proud is an understatement.

“These last few years have been amazing and would not have been possible without the fantastic support of my family, sponsors and the trials community. My parents and brother, Ross have been with me every step of the way.

“Huge thanks to the SACU for putting me forward for the award – I am so proud to represent Scottish trials.”

As well as Jamie’s prowess on the world stage where he’s a leading contender in the Trial3 class, the Judges were particularly impressed by Jamie’s efforts in instructing and supporting young riders. He is an ACU Qualified Coach and active in organising training days attended by young and old alike.

The Pinhard is one of the UK’s most prestigious awards, the giant three-gallon cup having been presented since 1950. The list of previous winners is full of motorcycling greats from the last 70 including Jeff Smith, Arthur Lampkin, Roy Peplow, Scott Ellis. Malcolm Davis, Mick Andrews, DJ Adsett, Gordon Farley, Malcolm Rathmell, Martin Lampkin, Clive Smith, Rob Shepherd, John Reynolds, Graham Noyce, John Lampkin, Steve Saunders, Dave Thorpe, Kurt Nicoll, Jason Lawer, Wayne Braybrook, Steve Colley, Dougie Lampkin, Sam Connor, Martin Crosswaite, Jonny Walker, Tom Sagar, Donna Fox, Alexz Wigg, Jack Challoner, Tommy Searle, Jack Sheppard, Jack Peace, Toby Martyn, Alicia Robinson, Harry Hemingway and fellow Scot Rory Skinner as well as many more national and international household names.

Sunbeam MCC awards the trophy in memory of Frederick William Pinhard who died in 1948 whilst serving as Secretary of the Club. The judges were editors of leading motorcycle periodicals, the General Secretary of the ACU, President of Sunbeam MCC and two officials appointed by Sunbeam MCC.
