Over 50 enthusiastic young riders descended on Hooton Lodge for the much-anticipated OSET Weekender, a two-day celebration of electric trials riding designed especially for children aged four to 14.

With the majority of attendees being beginner riders - and around a dozen families experiencing their very first trials event - the future of the sport has never looked brighter.

The weekend offered a fantastic introduction to the world of trials in a safe, inclusive, and fun environment, demonstrating why OSET Bikes continues to lead the way in electric off-road motorcycling for kids.

"It all starts on an OSET," said Simon Armstrong, OSET Event Manager and Clerk of the Course. “We design these events not only to teach fundamental riding skills, but to make sure the kids and families walk away grinning from ear to ear — and judging by the faces this weekend, I’d say we delivered.”

One of the standout additions to this year’s event was the debut Adventure Ride through the woods, where team leaders guided riders on a magical, Minion-themed scavenger hunt. Children discovered hidden giant Minions, dodged a water gun-wielding Gru, and showcased the balance, turning, and obstacle-handling skills learned earlier that morning in the Skills Academy.

Saturday afternoon turned up the heat - quite literally - as temperatures soared to 28 degrees. Fortunately, the much-loved Water Gun Alley helped riders stay cool, while the Klick Start challenge gave them a taste of light-hearted competition.

Sunday brought more focused riding, as participants took on a full trial of eight sections, each ridden three times. Despite many being first-time competitors, the level of confidence, control, and courage on show was impressive across all age groups.

Ian Smith, Founder of OSET Bikes, reflected on the significance of weekends like this: “Seeing kids as young as four confidently tackling obstacles, making new friends, and learning in such a positive environment is what OSET is all about. Our bikes are the safest, easiest, and arguably most fun way to get your kids enjoying two wheels and developing the essential skills for any two-wheeled sport — from trials to enduro, and mountain biking to motocross."

With laughter echoing through the woods, families sharing picnics in the sunshine, and bikes buzzing across the field, the OSET Weekender at Hooton Lodge wasn’t just a weekend event - it was a memory-making machine, and a powerful reminder of how joyful and accessible motorcycling can be for the next generation.
