Trials

THIS Sunday, July 17, sees the National KIA Twinshock Trials Championship head to Herefordshire, for the fourth round of the series, the event being organised by the Wye Valley Auto Club.

The Pontrilas area will be familiar to those who rode the old Wye Valley Traders National, a superb event in its day.

The entry, at the time of writing, has already exceeded the 100 mark, and riders will be treated to a mixture of slippery rocky streams, gullies, roots and muddy climbs.

All the main series frontrunners are entered, Colin Ward, Steve Bird and David Carter in the Air-cooled  class and Robert Taylor, Gary Younghusband and Steve Bisby in the Historic Spanish class on Montesa, Bultaco and Ossa respectively representing all three Spanish marques.

In the Twinshock class the winner of the last two rounds, Wayne Jones, is missing from the entry meaning series regulars Olly Wareing, Richard Allen and Roy Palmer, the latter on his unique Kawasaki four-stroke, could move to the top of the points table.

In the Britshocks, Mark Stokes, Martyn Wilmore and Martyn Stanistreet will surely be in there battling it out for top spot.

Please note that the official start time has been moved to 10.30am, and all riders should be ready to start at this time. Riders will then start in class groups at different parts of the course.

This method of starting was used at round three and seems to work well, meaning the observers aren't waiting for hours for riders to arrive at their section and it helps keep the trial flowing.

The start will be signposted off the A465 Hereford to Abergavenny road at Pontrilas.

There will be a catering van on site in the morning with a free bacon roll and cup of tea to all riders and observers.
