Trials Torque: Kia’s Golden shot
By John Dickinson on 11th May 16
THE second round of the 2016 KIA National Twin-shock series takes place this Sunday with a brand new round thanks to Golden Valley MCC.
They will promote the event at their Chavenage venue close to Tetbury, near Stroud, Gloucestershire, postcode GL8 8XP.
The big news is that, after the Congleton club's opening round drew 150 entries, the second round will play host to no fewer than 167 riders, a truly astounding figure.
The KIA series caters for Historic Twin-shocks, Open Twin-shocks, Brit-shocks and Air-cooled monos, with two routes available for all classes, Expert and Clubman. You choose!
One of the main draws from a spectator viewpoint is the sheer variety of machinery.
There really is everything from Bultaco, Montesa, Ossa, Majesty, Fantics, SWM, James, BSA, Triumph, Kawasaki, Francis Barnett, Suzuki – the list goes on and on, two-stroke, four-stroke, singles, twins, etc, etc
The series is just a great chance to dig out that old bike and get it into action.
And with that mighty entry of 167 there has been an awful lot of digging lately.
Steve Venn will be first man away at 10.30am and there are plenty of characters in the entry including Welsh legend Andy Roberton, who will be out riding his 197 James.
