A challenging trip for charity

FOLLOWING the severe spinal injury suffered by club rider Aaron Morgan last season at Winterbourne Gunner, his many friends at the Portsmouth club and beyond did an incredible amount of work and fundraising to help Aaron and his family adjust to life after his accident.
Now, fellow Portsmouth members Ken Wilson and Neil Jenkinson are ona fund-raising mission to enable Aaron and fellow young spinal injurysuffers to attend a specialised ski-trip later in the year.
A keen snowboarder for the last ten years, it was brought to Ken'sattention on one trip abroad that it would be possible for Aaron to bepart of a specialised skiing trip for spinal injury sufferers, so heimmediately set about putting something together to raise funds forsuch a trip.
Working with the Backup Trust for spinal Injuries and enlisting thehelp of fellow 43-year-old Neil, the guys have set themselves a realchallenge to raise money - a four-day, 240kms mountain bike trek overthe French alps culminating at Chamonix, Mont Blanc, and scalingheights as high as 2700 metres.
Since the planning for the trip began The Backup Trust has offeredto take Aaron to one of its Summer camps and then on to a Skiing tripin the New Year the cost of which is around £1000, however, as Ken andNeil have already raised almost £4,500, they have pledged all the moneyraised to the trust so that other young people as well as Aaron will beable to benefit from their efforts.
The motocross clubs and riders in the local area have been extremelysupportive of the fund-raising trip, for which Neil and Ken are verygrateful, but they appeal to any T+MX News readers who want to supporttheir efforts to please do so as it is for an extremely good cause andcould have a life-altering impact on both Aaron and other lives.
More information on the trip and the Backup Trust can be found byvisiting www.backuptrust.org.uk or by contacting Ken on 07973-846217 orNeil on 07917-733215.
T+MX News wishes them both the best for the trip.
