A King's SX ransom

AFTER the successful opening round of the Youth classes at the Norfolk Arena last Saturday, the first round of the Adult Maxxis British Outdoor Supercross Championship gets underway this weekend (Saturday, December 2).
The first event with the Youths proved that the track is safe and challenging in equal measures, and stood up well to the prevailing conditions, ie heavy rain, so with both the MX1 and MX2 classes in action tomorrow night it is sure to be a high powered affair from the moment the start gate drops.
2006 BYMX Premier class champion Ashley Greedy moves up to the Adult class and competes for the MX2 crown, but will find the opposition much tougher as he takes on a host of experienced riders such as Steve Bixby, Luke Copping and Wisbech's Arron Rayner.
Teenage Norwegian Per Kristian Bakke has decided to make the return trip to try and repeat his double victory in last weekend's Youth 125cc class.
It's a lot more difficult to predict who will be setting the pace in the MX1 class with a host of riders capable of grabbing the limelight.
Ben Lambert-Williams is one such rider with Dave Bennett from Preston and Paul Cauldwell from Kent hoping that the long drive proves to be worthwhile as they face stiff local opposition from Gayton's Ben Howard and Nick Woodhouse from Dereham.
Event manager Jonathan Chapman, said: "We have been really looking forward to staging the British Outdoor Supercross Championship this season.
"After such a successful season with the King's Lynn speedway team taking all three major trophies we are used to putting on top-flight motorcycle sport events, although this is our first venture into supercross, we have taken as much advice as we can, and I can promise everyone that we will be pulling out all the stops to make this series exciting, enjoyable, safe, and worthy of the British Championship title.”
The track at Kings Lynn is open for practice on Friday (today) from 11.00am until 4.00pm at a cost of £35.00. Saturday's event kicks-off with practice at 10.30am, with qualifying heats from 3.30pm and the main event from 7.00pm.
Admission is £10.00 for spectators, 12-15 year olds £4.00, and children under 11 free.
