SCOTTISH Champion, Leon Beda (right), has signed to ride for Richard Cole's Mercuria Yamaha GYTR Team for the 2007 season.

Nineteen-year-old Beda will contest the British and Scottish championships along with other selected UK and international events, including the 12 hour Pont de Vaux race in France in which the team scored a sensational second place this year.

Beda has won the Scottish title for the past two seasons. He started the 2006 season on a Polaris Predator, but moved back to a private YFZ450 after some early problems, finishing in 13th place in the British QuadX series.

Leon signed the deal with the Mercuria team after trying out the 2006 YFZ last weekend. "I was comfortable and confident straight away and am really looking forward to the 2007 season with the support of the Mercuria Yamaha GYTR Team,” he said.

Richard Cole (pictured above left) has also confirmed that 2006 team members Joe Maessen, David Janillsvitch and James Helliwell have all agreed terms and leading female star Emma Mackin from Northern Ireland has also agreed to join the team. Mark Roberts has been rewarded with a support rider deal.

Cole is still negotiating with one other leading rider and hopes to make a further announcement in the next few days.
