Call of the wild

Colunists

SOME people claim Wilden Lane is the best all-weather course in the country. All I know is it withstood the mother and father of all storms through Saturday night with lashings of rain and was still in good shape for Sunday's final round of the British Youth Winter Championships.

Ashley Greedy wrapped up his series with another hat-trick of superb wins in the Adult Open section. Cruel luck again for a determined Shane Carless as his engine gave out in race one when it looked as if we were in for a great scrap between the two Honda guys.

It was left to the third member of the PAR team Chad Yarranton to claim second overall. However, only after a great third race ride by Chad as he fought his way back into contention past a flying Nathan Rookes, who continues to impress on the 125 KTM, and Yamaha-mounted Danny Blakeley.

The performance of the day came from Jamie Jackson in the Youth 125cc section. With some fantastic riding right on the ragged edge Jamie fought his way back from dead last going into turn one to take the lead two laps from the chequers only for his engine to seize. More cruel luck!

Jack Rowlands took the win in that one and a well-fought second overall on the day. Charlie Evans topped the points thanks to his last race win.
