Bolts and Biffstar in a Driff one-two

THE final round of the UK's most popular off-road series, the Putoline Hare Scramble Championship took place at the MOD Training Area, at Driffield, East Yorkshire, The series opener back in February started with 400 riders and this the last round finished with an incredible 500 riders taking part in the weekend's races.

The final round was organised by True GritOff-Road who set out a course comprising of flowing woodland trackslinked by fast open breaks and a quarry with jumps.

On Saturday it was the youth riders turn to testout the Driffield circuit. Junior and Senior B riders numbering 70lined-up for the 2pm start. Using a shorter course than the adults, theyoung riders blasted off around the track. After 90-mins of hard ridingAdam Taylor took the Senior B victory while Luke Flack once again wonthe Junior class.

As Sunday dawned the weather was overcast withfine rain in the air. At 9am the truly massive Sportsman, Novice andYouth Senior A entry lined up.

Liam Ward took the holeshot and led the masses offinto the woods. Liam held the lead for the first hour but dropped backafter being hit in the face by a rock. Tez Watson took up the lead andwent on to take the win from Karl Waltho, 41 seconds adrift. TheSportsman Open class was won by Stuart Gordon.
