WEST of England Motor Club Ltd are in charge of the fourth round of the 2008 Colin Appleyard ACU British Solo Trials Championship which will be staged at the famous Kelly Farm, Lustleigh, Bovey Tracey, Devon, on Sunday, June 15. The prestigious Championship class will see reigning champ Graham Jarvis on the mighty 320 Sherco thumper attempting to reel-in current leader, young gun Michael Brown on the factory TTT Beta REV3. Browny won the opening two rounds but Graham struck back at the Mitchell to bring his points deficit down to a mere seven. These two can't expect to have their own way though and third placed Shaun Morris could well have a big say in the proceedings. Shaun loves big rockery, he will have been practicing on his brand-new Gas Gas Raga Replica and the Lancashire lad will be looking for a maximum points haul. Stir in the youngsters in the shape of Alexz Wigg, on the mighty Future Montesa and battling Gas Gas duo Sam Haslam and Ross Danby and a super day's competition is a certainty.
In the Experts, no fewer than 22 hopefuls line-up in what is always a competitive class and heading that list is reigning champ and local boy Joe Baker. Scorpa-mounted Joe will renew his rivalry with hot Yorkshire teenage prospect Jack Challoner. Jack, on the 125 Beta, has been a revelation in his first adult championship as he and Joe have left the rest of the challengers in their wake. James Fry continues to improve virtually by the weekend and Dan Thorpe and Liam Walker can never be discounted so watch-out for another Expert battle.
The British Championship event will kick-off at 9.30am on Sunday morning with a time allowance of five and half hours for all. There will be a practice session on Saturday afternoon which will run from 4pm until 6pm.
