THE names of the ten riders that will represent Great Britain in the Trophy and Junior Trophy teams at this year's ISDE in Serres, Greece, in early September have officially been named by team manager Andrew Dusty' Martin with WEC regulars Tom Sagar, Daryl Bolter and Si Wakely leading the Trophy team effort along with Edward and Dylan Jones and Trophy team new comer Jason Thomas.
To be officially known as the Optoma Mortgages GB/ ACU British Trophy and Junior Trophy Teams, defending British Enduro Champion Tom Sagar is arguably the team's strongest member aboard his factory KTM and will be looking to perform well in his first Six Days as an official KTM team rider. But with MPS Husqvarna riders Daryl Bolter and Si Wakely having produced some impressive world championship performances so far this year, as well as both being current European Enduro Championship title winners, Tom certainly won't be alone in gunning for glory in Serres.
Collecting their sixth and third British Trophy team call-ups respectively, cousins Edward and Dylan Jones will bring their considerably Six Days experience to the squad with the KTM and Yamaha mounted duo both looking to secure more gold medal finishes.
Although a newcomer and a relative unknown quantity to the British Trophy Team, Jason Thomas, who recently topped the XC2 Pro class at a round of the US GNCC series, is hoping to pull off a few surprises in Greece. Making up in speed what he lacks in experience Jason competes the Optoma Mortgages GB/ ACU British Trophy Team.
The Junior Team is assembled from a group of Britain's best young enduro riders – Lee Edmondson, Ollie Moyce, Ashley Wood and Jamie Paget with reserve Darren Carter. Lee Edmondson has a plentiful supply of Six-Day experience. Ollie Moyce is currently performing well in the European series and will be hoping to improve on his excellent Junior Trophy Team performance last year. Ashley Wood will be trying to make up for the bitter disappointment of machine failure early in last year's event. TM rider Jamie Paget takes to the start of his first ISDE.
"I believe that I have selected the strongest teams from the riders that were available,” commented team manager Dusty Martin.
"I am particularly pleased that some younger riders have the opportunity to ride for their country, this can only build strength for future teams and be good for encouraging riders into the sport in Great Britain. We will be training hard between now and September to achieve the results we are capable of.
"I have also been overwhelmed with the generosity of our sponsors and would like to thank them for their continued support, they are currently Optoma Mortgages, Rygor Commercials, Kriega and Presscrete.
"The team will again be wearing shirts supplied by Bagnalls and helmets designed and sprayed by Lee at Dzign.”
