The Goldspeed British QX Championship blasts into action at the spectacular Desertmartin track in Northern Ireland this weekend.

The famous MX GP track hosts rounds one and two of the 2010 title chase and picking a favourite for the title is harder than ever, with an ever growing list of names coming into the frame as serious contenders.

Top of the pile is multiple and reigning champion Paul Winrow who showed anyone with any doubts that he has already got the hang of his new KTM, by storming to an overall

third place at the British round of the European Championship at Petersfield two weeks ago.

He may have lacked some race fitness, but he certainly has the speed, the experience and the guile to carry on winning.

Others on the pace at Petersfield were the similarly KTM-mounted Jason MacBeth, Paul Holmes and Mark Watson.

These three are also similarly spectacular to watch and will certainly be in the frame for race wins, but they will also need to maintain champion-

ship winning consistency of results if they are to wrestle the number one plate from Winrow.

Former British and European champion John Mitchell is back to fitness after his injury-hit 2009 season and the Scotsman will be out to prove that he is still a major force to be reckoned with.

Like Winrow, Mitchell knows what it takes to win a championship and he wants that number one plate back.

Stef Murphy took fourth place in the title chase in 2009 and

the Oxfordshire teenager is determined to make the next step up to regular race wins in 2010.

Similarly Carl Bunce and Leon Beda are more than capable of leading the pack and they too will be looking to make their mark in 2010.

Justin Reid is another former British champion who looks to be back on form and hungry for wins.

Justin has got his Can-Am set-up well sorted and will be hoping for an injury-free run at the title.

And the list goes on...
