MONSTER Energy have financed the transfer of Chad Reed to form a twin spearhead alongside Ryan Villopoto at Kawasaki next year as they try to topple James Stewart in the AMA SX series. It is not yet clear whether the Australian will make his debut for his new team next weekend at Vegas or not: We are still negotiating for the race, so we haven't talked about which bike yet.
Although out of contract at Suzuki since Thursday, Chad raced yellow at the Nations as it would have been impracticable to switch to a new brand so quickly.
The AMA outdoor champion, who also took the SX title at the final round, pulled no punches in his criticism of Stewart's absence from the US team: I missed the outdoors a couple of years, but I still came to this race. I think he is cheating his country!
