Champs take a walk in the Park

With the 2012 British Trials Championship series already reaching the halfway point this coming weekend, we head off to the excellent Low North Park for the Scarborough MCC organised round of the Doodson /ACU/ TRC supported series.
The 2012 series has seen some big changes to the British Championship, with the main change being the return to running under no-stop observing rules.
The other change is the return to just two classes – Championship and Expert – which has worked well so far and we will start with the Championship.
Pals and rivals Michael Brown and James Dabill have one win apiece so far this year, but it is Browny who sits in top place at the moment.
Dibs is just two points adrift, as he took third place at the opening event in Fort William, Scotland where local ace Gary Macdonald came home second
Gary Mac currently holds third in the championship, ahead of Ross Danby on the Jotagas, in fourth. It is all very tight after the top two with Alexz Wigg and Sam Haslam in close contention and both will be looking for improvements in their season so far.
James, Michael and Alexz return to Britain following the extensive trip to Australia and Japan for successive World Championship rounds so all should be on top form.
This season has also seen a re-emergence of some of the country's most experienced riders, with Sam Connor currently holding sixth overall.
Ian Austermuhle, Dan Thorpe and Dan Clarke are also in the top 10 so nothing can be taken for granted in this year.
Let's not forget also that there is a good battle going on between Tom Dexter and Bradley Cox in the 125cc contest and they are currently tied on 37 points.
Two riders dominate the Expert class so far– Richard Timperley and John Crinson both have one win apiece to date.
Adam Milner completes the current leaderboard and he won the Expert B class at last year's Mackenzie Trial, so he cannot be ruled out.
Add in consistent good points scorers Tom Hick, Andy Blackman and Buster Regan and you have the makings of a competitive support series once again.
Practise gets underway on Saturday at 2.30pm, with the trial starting on Sunday at 9.30am.
As with many of the venues this year it will be a first for them to host no stop, although this excellent piece of ground has been used for a number of years.
If you want to get to Low North head towards Scarborough, the venue post code is YO13 0LA. Follow route
marking from the A170 Pickering - Scarborough Road and A171 Scarborough - Whitby Road.
The old army camp has excellent infrastructure and the concrete roadways take you all around, so walking is relatively easy.
