THE information pack for the 2008 Remedies Bar Motocross series was recently sent out to all riders who registered last season and to all those who have requested them, and the new season will see some major changes in the organisation of events with the introduction of electronic timing and a new system formarshalling. Taking the lead from the major national series, Remedies Bar will introduce electronic timing, although due to the initial outlay to
riders and organisers alike, the decision wasn't taken lightly.
The transponder has its own unique number meaning it can be used at any event using electronic timing, and any rider who already owns a transponder will be able to use this in the series. There is more information about this, including an order form for transponders, included in the information pack.
Several of the Remedies Bar meetings last year were dogged by the lack of volunteers willing to marshal and so for 2008 the organisers have come up with the idea of forming a database of persons willing to marshal.
It has been decided to reimburse each
marshal with their expenses at the end of the racing at a rate of £20 for half a day and £40 for the whole days racing, and if you are interested in being included on the database then give Greta Edwards a ring on 01884-840078.
On the racing side of things, building on the success of last years initiative, the Over 35 championship is set to be extremely popular in the coming season and greater rider support is anticipated.
Three groups of Juniors will also be run for 2008 and Junior practice will be extended to include qualifying, with the fastest 40 riders going into the A group, the next 40 into B and the remainder into C. The Remedies team feel that this will be a lot fairer and easier to manage as the lap times will recorded by the new electronic timing system. There will be then be three races for each group.
The series website is currently undergoing an overhaul and the new look Remedies Bar pages will be up and running before the season starts, and besides all the usual features there will be downloaded pages for information and entry forms and an up to date news page.
Entry forms for every event will be posted to every registered rider and will be available to download from the website the following week.
Finally the dates for the 2008 season have been confirmed as: March 2, March 16, March 30, April 20, April 27, May 11, May 25, June 8, June 15, July 6, July 13, August 3, August 10, August 24, September 7, September 14, and October 4 (Sat).
The dinner and presentation will be on the evening of the final round at the Ladram Bay Holiday Park.
