Tommy's tops at Rhayader

RHAYADER Youth MXC had a successful presentation evening in the Rhayader Leisure Centre on October 27, with special guest World Motocross number two, Tommy Searle. As the curtain was drawn back the guests were amazed when they saw a magnificent display of trophies. Hayley Walton was compere for the evening with Sarah Hope feeding Tommy all the awards. Some very special thank you`s were read out by Club Chairman, Christian Walton. All the lap-scoring team and committee members were presented with a gift each for all their hard work. Christian paid a special tribute to Mr Tom Jones formally of the Moelfyre track who came to every race to watch his grandsons and was a great financial support to the club, they will be sadly missed.
With Tommy all set to go, the Autos were first up on stage for their BSMA Welsh Championships Awards. Next up were the RYMXC Club Championship Awards. The atmosphere at all the events has been second to none with a good display of sportsmanship throughout the season and with fantastic tracks.
There were two very special awards to be given out at the end of the evening presented by Multi World Enduro Champion, Paul Edmondson. The first one was kindly donated by Mr & Mrs Chris Price on the birth of their newly born daughter Chloe. This is called the `Chloe Price Award` going to the best local rider within a 13 mile radius of Rhayader town clock, and sweeping the board on points this year with every ride throughout the season was Alex Walton with an amazing 1068 points!
The second cup was donated in memory of the late Mr Mick Simms who was a great supporter of the club. It was kindly given by Mick's wife Michelle and their three daughters Laura, Jessica and Beth. This award is the `Riders-Rider`, and was voted for by the riders on the evening of the dinner. once again it was Alex Walton. Alex was very proud to win this special award for the year, he has had a great season and has ridden in a class of his own. It is great that other riders appreciate his ability on the bike!
RYMXC would like to send a BIG thanks to Tommy Searle and Paul Edmondson for giving up their time to be at the presentations with us. We would also like to thank all the riders who have supported us during the past season and everyone who has marshalled, and all the great spectators who come to watch the racing. Watch out for 2008 dates coming very soon!
