Close racing at QRA

THIS weekend sees round three of the QRA UK Quad Endurance Championship take place at Egbury, near Andover, signposted from the A343 Newbury to Andover road.

Just one-point separates reigning champion, SteveAtkins, from fellow Honda rider and twice QRA Endurance champion, PaulWinrow.

In third spot in the Pro Class is in-form AndrewDavies on the K4 Suzuki with Winrow's team-mate, Andy Downes, fourth.Chris Cooper on the Anderson Suzuki and David Baldwin on the MercuriaYamaha machine will be ones to watch for, as they are very quick riderswith ground to make up.

The Expert class is also a close affair betweenBen James at the top, just one-point clear from Roger Page. The Clubmanclass is being dominated by Simon Lang, having won the first tworounds. Young Lewis Hill maintains second spot on the Rocketman RacingSuzuki, just ahead of John Page.

The Stock class is very close and producing someterrific racing also. Stephen Williams, on his 450 Suzuki, is just fivepoints ahead of Moose Pittaway on his Ten Fore Rocket Centre Suzuki450. Lance Hand has been going very well on the Gas Gas and iscurrently in third place.

The mighty 4x4 Auto riders are swapping firstspot. Former Open Champion Iain Johnston on the Can Am Renegade leadslast year's champion from Somerset Richard Smith. They are both on thesame points, but as Iain won round two, it gives him the lead. TheLadies battle is superb this year with Beverley Barnes just four pointsahead of Elizabeth Price and a few more ahead of Jade Pole and GinaMorris.

Support Quads are always welcome and the QRA areover the moon again at the number of newcomers already booked in,including the return to racing of Mark Ridley after hearing how muchfun the series is. The former QRA Oval Champion and ACU British MXrider is making a comeback on one of Sid Hinds' Raptors.
