ACU Events has used the top track builder, Johnny Douglas-Hamilton, to tweak' the Landrake circuit ahead of the final showdown of the ACU Maxxis British Motocross Championship this Sunday, September 27.

Although both the MX1 and MX2 Champions were crowned at the previous round in Scotland, fans are in for a treat as American idol, Ryan ‘Ryno' Hughes takes on the cream of British riders on the 1900-metre hillside circuit.

‘Ryno' (pictured right) will ride in the MX1 class and with the circuit designed for maximum ‘air time', who can stop the Honda rider standing on the top step of the podium at the end of the day?

Johnny set to work ensuring the whoops section allowed for the seven waves to be trippled, and doubled by the top riders. He also set about the rhythm section at the bottom of the circuit and enlarged on the 2007 version (when the track last hosted a championship round) to create the ‘Ryno Canyon'. This is an extreme section which will benefit the doubling of the canyon to carry speed onto the following uphill section.

Adding further spice to the MX1 class will be KTM factory rider Shaun Simpson, who will ride in the category for the first time in his career. The Scottish rider, now based in Belgium, will take on the established MX1 riders in the last major outdoor event in the UK this year. His team-mate and newly crowned MX2 Champion, Stephen Sword is also stepping up to the MX1 class and is looking forward to racing against ‘Ryno'. Sword wants to go for the win and will be determined to try and show the American who is boss.

The event also features the final round of the DBB Ladies Championship where world class MVR-D Suzuki rider, Natalie Kane, looks set to secure her second British title. She is still carrying a thigh muscle injury from a spill in the Dutch GP but is determined to race and seal her second crown.

The mechanics also get to step into the limelight with the ‘Mechanics Race' completing the day's racing.

All the track action starts at 9am with timed qualification for the Ladies class. The MX2 riders are out at 9.25am and the elite MX1 at 10.30am. There is an autograph session at 11.40am with the racing kicking off at 12.30pm with the Ladies class, which is followed by MX2 and then MX1.

Admission costs for adults is £20, children £5, with concessions available, car parking is free.

The circuit is situated just 500 meters off the main A38 trunk road, three miles into Cornwall and just three miles from Plymouth. The RAC signposting will be from the first roundabout after crossing the Tamar Bridge. The postcode for the circuit is PL12 5EP.
