THE Cusses Gorse track near Salisbury, in Wiltshire, will see the next round of the ACU Express Insurance British Youth Motocross championship arrive this weekend, July 18/19. Promised for the weekend as well as the fantastic racing, will be a load of other items to keep everyone entertained, young or old, like a funfair, face painting, circus workshop, karaoke and Hog Roast, with a book sale organised by Oxfam. Also available will be an MX tryout area, so if you fancy a go and have never ridden before here's your chance.
Back to the preview, and once again who will come away with the wins is anybody's guess, but be sure the leaders of the championship classes at the moment will be on their guard as to who will be their main rivals at this track.
In the PAR Homes Youth Open, current leader, Josh Waterman, will be on a high after his exploits over at the European Championships recently, and with just one round to go before he becomes the 2009 MXY2 champion in the British Maxxis
series.
Josh will be on his guard after losing two races at the previous rounds to Luke Hawkins and Daniel McCanney, and he will also have to watch out for a few others including Connor Walkley and Jack Rowland, who also showed well at the previous round.
Another rider who also went well in Europe was current leader in the Big-wheel 85cc class Ryan Houghton, who has a slender lead of 80-points going into this round over second placed Jake Millward. Sunny Thompson is in third ahead of Nathan Watson. This class looks like it will go right down to the last round at Foxhill.
Series leader in the PAR Homes Small-wheel 85cc class, Ben Watson, will want to forget his loss at the last round to Callan Cooper who took his first overall at Dean Moor. Watson will want to regain his record at Cusses Gorse and keep his lead in the championship.
The Cobra Junior 65cc is another class to watch as Conrad Mewse tries to extend his series lead over from Henry Williams and Sid Evans. Both gave him a hard time last time out. Also in the mix will be Connor Hughes, Will Keogh, Jack Camwell and a host of other riders, so let's see who can up their pace to take the battle to Mewse.
The main two in the Clubman Junior class, Zac Stealey and Peter Eccles, will once again be at each others wheels to try and take the wins, Stealey leads at the moment by 83 points from Eccles, but I am sure Eccles will want to lessen that lead by getting some wins. Meanwhile Ryan Pottenger will come up against some top local talent in the Experts class and hoping to retain his lead in the Experts class.
Cusses Gorse MotoX track is between the A345 Salisbury to Amesbury road and the A338 Salisbury-Tidworth-Marlborough road. Nearest post code is SP4 6JW.
