THE second round of the 2007 YMSA Trials Cham-pionship, The Repsol Beta Trophy Trial, was held last Sunday, April 29, at the Foxholes venue, high on the hills above Matlock.

This excellent venue, with its rocky stream and steep banks, gavethe clerk of the course and his team the ideal opportunity to test theriders to the full and, with a field of 95 riders, the observers werekept busy throughout the day.

On the C and D routes, the opening three sections were at the top ofthe gulley and took the riders back and forth across the stream, negotiating several tricky rocks and steep banks.

It was section three which took a cross section of marks from theriders and took the only mark of the trial from eventual D classwinner, Dan Peace. In fact Dan was in a class of his own when the finalresult was assembled and had a clear seven point lead over his nearestrival Michael Todd. Third placed Thomas Minta was also in the runninguntil a five on section eight on his second lap put him out ofcontention.
