With moto victories at each of the last three days of racing in the Oz Nationals, first-year 450cc runner, Dean Ferris, is already on his way back to Europe for the final third of the world series.
Having raced wheel-to-wheel with Billy MacKenzie at the front of the pack throughout the final weekend of racing Down Under Dean admitted: "For me it was a very positive end to the Australian season. We made some fundamental bike set-up changes a few weeks back and that has really boosted my speed on track.
"It showed on Sunday morning when I posted my first Pro Open pole position and then also the fastest lap in that final moto.
"For sure Billy and I were the fastest guys out on track this weekend, so to finish the championship with that form makes me really happy.
"This week I fly out to Belgium, my plan is to try and get a ride on a team for some of the remaining Grand Prix events, so hopefully that all comes together.”
Brad Greenwood, who, together with Synergy partner Glen Dempsey, is looking after Dean's interests in Europe, said this week: "I am on the look-out for a GP ride at Lommel for Dean as we speak. Team Martin has suggested that it would be happy to run him at Lierop and in Italy, but it has Japanese championship runner, Yu Hirata, at Lommel and Loket.”
Brad also confirmed that Gareth Swanepoel, one of their other runners, should be OK for Lommel: "Swanny was just shaken – he had an X-ray and nothing broken.”
